Civilians will never truly understand what service men and women did and do for us. But these vets need to understand what us civilians are doing for them now that they’re back.

Ideas

Our veterans have to worry about things that we can’t begin to fathom. They shouldn’t have to stress about bills, or their mental and physical health when they come home. We fight to give back to them what they sacrificed for us. Here’s some ideas we came up with:

American ninja warrior

We held an American Ninja Warrior style event held in different cities featuring a multitide veterans. Contestants used their skills they learned in the military to compete in various games, such as "Bomb Diffuser", "Radar Navigation" and "Obstacle Course." Proceeds from admission went to free gym memberships for returned veterans.

Valor

Veterans have amazing stories to tell. People/families submitted their favorite veterans to be the main character of a comic book titled "Valor", detailing their actual experiences during combat. All proceeds earned from sales went towards a paid vacation to returning veterans.

service dog

We had local dog shelters add a page to their website where they featured a returning veteran in need of a service dog. The veteran was able to choose from a list of their preferred breed and the public then gifted an available rescue dog to them.

tour stories

We set up booths at county fairs called “Tour Stories,” where fair goers were able to rent VR glasses. Each set of glasses was labeled with the name of a veteran that served, and brought to life a specific mission that they went through. The proceeds then went to pay the bills of a local veteran.

reddit ama

We created a Reddit AMA page where anyone could ask veterans open and honest questions. Each week had a different topic, such as the foods they're served, living conditions, enemy surprise attacks, etc. Then we had a participating veteran answer these questions on Instagram stories and the Ask A Veteran youtube page in the hopes of giving civilians an honest depiction of serving our country.

sponsor a vet

We created a website where civilians could choose to buy or use their points towards a flight for a veteran in need. Veterans would post important life events that they need help attending, such as birth of a grandchild, a wedding, major surgery, etc.
